What was your first? - Mr_Falcon - 08-23-2006 My first RJ novel was "Legacies", which is the most unusual of the books, in that it is primarily a action/adventure book. I read the others, not expecting at all to find any horror or fantasty elements in them, so it took some adjusting. Also, I notice that some of the books focus on the fix-it aspect of RJ, and other books don't have much of the fix-it in them, and they simply advance the Rasalom story along. Again, it gives each book an individual personality apart from the rest of the series. What was your first? - Kenji - 08-24-2006 tehuti Wrote:I had a similar introduction to FPW recently. I just started a new job a few weeks ago and a Crown Books outlet is walking distance from the office. I was in there at lunch time the other day looking for a book to read on my lunch hours when I discovered Conspiracies. It was the only book in the whole place that sounded even remotely interesting. Suffice to say after a chapter or two I was hooked! Welcome to the board, tehuti. I'm sure you'll enjoy other FPW's works. I recommend "Black Wind" and "Sibs"......oh, you already read them?! I started reading The Tomb before I finished Conspiracies, which I just finished yesterday. I also picked up the Keep the other day and Legacies just this afternoon. So as soon as I plow through all of those maybe I'll continue on with the Adversary Cycle. We'll see. What was your first? - luthie2 - 09-02-2006 Kenji Wrote:Welcome to the board, tehuti. I'm thinking about giving the Lanugue (is that right?) books a try. Never been into the Scifi scene but all the books I've tried to read lately have flat out sucked. What was your first? - Dr. Trilobite - 09-04-2006 Legacies was my first. I read it on vacation and thought it was pretty alright. It stuck with me so I bought Conspiracies, devoured it, and bought All the Rage through Crisscross the next day. What was your first? - Kenji - 09-04-2006 Dr. Trilobite Wrote:Legacies was my first. Welcome to the board, Dr. Trilobite. Did you read "The Tomb" yet? Enjoy your reading! What's your gas mask? Something smell? What was your first? - Jay #1 - 09-06-2006 Legacies, Then The Tomb. What was your first? - Dave F - 09-06-2006 I borrowed my Aunt's Bookclub eddition of the Keep. At the time i was a big fan of Stephen King & James Herbert horror books. The cover looked cool so I borrowed it. Needless to say it was way better than the King & Herbert stuff. So good i bought my own copy despite having read it already. That must have been over 20 years ago Read so many times onto my third copy now. You never forget your first time |
