Astaire & Rogers - though, I sometimes like some of his other partners better...

I totally agree with you about Much Ado About Nothing. That was romance.

Woody Allen and Diane Keaton in Annie Hall.
Buttercup and Westley as was mentioned.
Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal in The Fountainhead.
Timmy and LassieBig Grin

I got to meet Jon Provost (Timmy) at an autograph signing a few years ago. Unfortunately, Lassie wasn't there. He brought his wife instead.

I saw Patricia Neal in person at a scifi movie marathon last April. She is 86. She said Cooper was her favorite co-star. The Day the Earth Stood Still, in which she stars with Michael Rennie, was shown. When she was told the remake would have Keanu Reeves in the Rennie role, she said," Who?"

Best Movie Couples (male/female) - Billyboy - 09-02-2008

Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette in True Romance

Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell in His Girl Friday

No other couple (in my opinion) could have pulled off the fast-paced dialogue, word-play, and ad-libing like those two did in this movie. Supposedly their speech was clocked at an average of 240 wpm...about 100 wpm faster then normal speech. (Info from Netflix)

Always a great movie for good laughs and probably one of Grant's best. I watched it the other night after not having seen it in years and I think I'm going to buy the DVD now (had it on VHS years ago)

I watched Wild at Heart last night and must put Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern on my top ten movie couples of all time. Spenser Tracy and Kate Hepburn, Bogey and Hepburn, Bogey and Bacall, Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek, are others I would include (you can figure out the movies they starred in). Any others?

William Powell and Myrna Loy, in The Thin Man series. They were flawless together for a period comic couple. It's almost sad they weren't married in real life.
