Lisa Wrote:The Haunting, The Changeling, and a Spanish movie called The Orphanage.

ETA: The originals of the first two.

I saw the Orphanage. I laaaaaaaaaughed. I won't spoil why I thought it was funny except to say it was the twist ending.

The Mad American Wrote:Okay I watched "Burnt Offerings" tonight and liked it. The jury is still out for me to say if I really liked it. Oliver Reed and Karen Black were really good in it and Bette Davis can play creepy like no one. It was old school slow paced and had a decent payoff but I am still undecided on it as a whole.

Guess I should try and get some sleep and see how I feel about it after I let it stew for a bit.

This is why I love playing Trivial Pursuit. When Burnt Offerings was first mentioned in this thread I thought... 1970s... Karen Black.

And if I've even seen the movie, it would have been on a "late show" or "late late show" decades ago. I put it in my Netflix queue though so I can see it (again?) soon.

Yeah, it seemed vaguely familiar to me so maybe I have seen it in the past on one of those late shows or maybe "Nightmare Theater" which was the Friday night late show that showed only scary/horror/thriller shows in the area I grew up.

Btw, I was thinking last night as I was streaming it on Netflix, how cool is it that we can do that? Really, years ago we had to hope it would be replayed on TV or that our local video rental store would have it, now we have it at our fingertips.

That is definitely one of the coolest things around. It's a free market WIN. Wink

I've watched so much stuff on Netflix streaming - tv shows and movies both. The whole reason I signed up with Netflix (again) this last time was because they had episodes of the tv show Jericho on streaming. I never saw it when it was on tv, but when I heard about it I really wanted to see it.

My favorite one is "The Legend of Hell House". I like both book and movie.

I saw In the Mouth of Madness when I was a senior in high school. I was too young to appreciate how great a movie it was. I loved the scares, but the end was too off in left field. I didn't realize how truly perfect that ending was.

My faves are Uzumaki, The Ring (American version is superior to Japanese IMO), Ju-on, The Thing, Event Horizon. I loved The Exorcist III. I would say even more so than the first as it was a little more condensed and a little more scares put into it.

Peter Straub's Ghost Story is the scariest book I ever read. Beware that the movie does it no justice, and is not scary. The book is excellent though.

Favorite Horror movie - Bluesman Mike Lindner - 06-16-2011

I gotta go with 3:

As a 9 year-old, THE HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, on tv.

As a 20-year old, THE EXORCIST. I think Paul is on the money in that the book and flick have an extra dimension of creepiness if you were raised Catholic.

As a 57-year old, President Obama's State of the Union addresses.

The Mad American Wrote:I haven't seen the Masters of Horror episode Jenifer, do you remember who's work it was based on?

Based on a short story by Bruce Jones. Teleplay by and starring Steven Weber. Directed by Dario Argento.

Anyone remember The Car? It's been so long I have a hard time remembering the plot exactly but I remember that car kicked some ass.
