Biggles Wrote:Don't forget the classic sub movies: "The Enemy Below" and "Run Silent, Run Deep".

The last time I checked, THE ENEMY BELOW wasn't available, incredibly enough. Anybody know why the 80s NEW TWILIGHT ZONEs haven't been put out on DVD? Some damn fine episodes in that series.

Richard Kendrick Wrote:Yeah, that was a poetic scene. I saw it coming, but it was still great.

It was a bit telegraphed, but damned if that isn't how justice needs to be meted out. Although it had some disastrous results, I thought the girl's fantasy was right on.

A few more 'worth-seeing' entries. None are great but all are better than the average film.

The Cooler-navigates Mamet territory pretty well and all the performances are solid. Alec Baldwin is a revelation as the sleazy casino owner.

The Returner and Tube-a couple of action-packed Asian imports. If you have to choose, take The Returner-think The Terminator crossed with Woo-lke fight scenes.

Best Laid Plans-an interesting little piece of noir with Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin, and Alessandro Nivola.

Question for Paul or anyone else who uses Netflix:

Have you had much problem with the condition of the discs or with the delivery? This last batch was really bad for me.

Casablanca had a track (Of All the Gin Joints in the World...) that was scratched up pretty bad. I had to put it in my computer DVD player and fiddle around for about 20 minutes to see that section of the movie. I have gotten other movies in similar condition.

And when I sent another movie back it took them 6 days to get it instead of the usual 2 days. (I know this is probably the fault of the USPS, but...)

I've only had the rare instance of a bad disc. The usual issue I have is a disc getting lost in the mail (which has only happened a handful of times). I just report it to them and they take care of the rest. I really like their customer support. They actually seem to care about customer satisfaction.

I recently watched two very bizarre love stories, my favorite kind, that have enough strange happenings to warrant a recommedation here. Both Perfect Strangers and Plain Dirty have heroines finding love under rather dire circumstances. PS is the better of the two, but if you are looking for love in all the wrong places, maybe you're not.

I recently saw a DVD I'd recommend. It's called LOVE ACTUALLY. The language is a bit over the top, but it's otherwise very good comedy. It stars a list of my favorites; Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, and Colin Firth.

I liked Love Actually enough that I bought the DVD. I thought it was one of the funniest and sweetest movies I've seen in a long, long time.

Check out Playing by Heart. Several different storylines which all come together at the end. Especially good is the storyline with Angelina Jolie and Ryan Phillipe.
