I guess the industry now distinguishes between soundtrack and score, although I only heard soundtrack when I was growing up, and it always meant the intrumental music. Guess not anymore.
So, two of my favorite scores are:
The Natural (Robert Redford film based on Bernard Malamud's book, with a totally different ending, but I like it better the way the film ends)
Also, The Natural has perhaps my favorite direction shot in any movie. Think I'll try to find the thread for favorite scenes and post it there.

Well, the poor broken-down bluesman will keep the flag of rock and soul flying high with A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, HELP!, MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR, LET IT BE, SUPERFLY, SHAFT, and TROUBLE MAN. (We won't--sob--talk about the Byrds' "Don't Make Waves", or "Child of the Universe" from CANDY. But we =can= throw our workingmens' caps in the air for "The Ballad of Easy Rider"--dated flick, great soundtrack. And let's not forget THE HARDER THEY COME.)

But seriously, I don't pay a lot of attention to soundtracks, but the spaghetti westerns were some of the best. I think Fistful of Dollars; For a Few Dollars More; The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly; and Hang 'em High were all great.
BTW, I've been thinking about a new thread: "Sexiest Supreme Court justices". Any interest? How about: "Most interesting accountants", "Most truthful politicians", or "Most unbiased news anchors"?
