Best horror flick in recent memory - The Mad American - 05-25-2004

Ken Valentine Wrote:The one about the blind lady was WAIT UNTIL DARK, it starred Audrey Hepburn (who did an absolutely wonderful portrayal of a blind woman) and Ephraim Zimbaist, Jr. Excellent movie!

Thanks Ken. Don't know why I thought they had the same title.

Small brain, lots of memeories maybe?

It's on VHS only; if you get a chance to see it, do NOT pass it up.

Thanks for the info FPW. This is definately one I will be getting. It really scared the crud out of me when I saw it as a young kid. Need to see if it still has the same overall effect on me.

I looked up Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark at Amazon.com, and they had seven copies ranging in price from $39.99 to over $400.00. So I think I'll give it a miss.

Easy for me to confuse as they both contain the word DARK.

The reason I remember the title is because Audrey Hepburn gave such a stunning performance. (I knew a lot of blind people when I grew up.)

Aa usual I have come into the thread late but have we covered the original of The Haunting yet? Still the only film I have ever seen that made me worry about going upstairs, in the dark, alone.

On the other hand I was terribly, terribly drunk as well so that may say something about my susceptibility.

Oh, never use a word you are not SURE you can spell...

Just saw Tomie last night. Disappointing; although, had I actually read any reviews whatsoever before viewing, I might not have been.

The sequel is supposed to be better.

I don't know, it just felt like any standard 90s/00s horror movie. It didn't really have the excellent mood that a lot of Asian horror has, nor did it have the totally incomprehensible plot that others have (although it was close). In other words, it had nothing to make it special.

The Aliens are pretty scary (ALIEN, ALIENS, etc).

Oh,yes! When I was nine years old, friends and I went to see ALIEN at theater. The last scene, I was jump up from chair.

Now not scary anymore, I thought. But a few weeks ago, I bought "25th anniversary ALIEN QUADRILOGY ultimate collection". Then, I saw ALIEN....once again I jump up from sofa! But it's due to sound effect. :p

By the way, my scariest monster is .......well, I think human is very scary. Anny Wilks in Misery, Hannibal in The Silence of the Lamb, etc...

Once again, as a kid( I just realized I must have been a jumpy little bugger with all the scary stuff I was exposed to early on) I checked a book out of the library on Lycanthropy and from that point on Werewolves did it for me...

Now, I think Janet Reno would top the list of scariest monsters for me.

For scariest movie monsters, I have to say that none of the ones listed really scare me. I am going to have to really think about this one to come up with a good one.
