The GU-3 took place over a month ago, and I'm still giddy about meeting Paul. I have never had so much fun and felt so welcome by Paul and the other GUers. But, I still have some apprehension when standing near an elevator.

Carl Wilson hit a bad note in "God Only Knows." (Singers sing to their guitars, and Carl's I=think= little E strings were badly out-of-tune on that song. A guitar roadie handed Carl another 12-string, for the next tune, but oh, boy, was Carl pissed. "I count on you!," he shouted, off-mike, but those of us in the front heard him well-enough. Great little Al Jardine rescued the situation with a killer rendition of "Heroes and Villians." And, jeez, I think I'm getting off track here...But I believe that Robert Heinlein would agree that =all= our ladies are lovely. Especially those whose concepts we men ponder on this board. "You're making little sense here, Bluesman!" Well, I'll be back online Sunday, and I'll try harder. So, uh, Marc--"almost karaoke?"

At the first GU (was the three years ago already? Damn...) we were all staying at a hotel that had a karaoke bar. The first night we did do karaoke much to the delight of Tony who jumped up and down clapping his hands like a kid on his birthday. Unfortunately Lisa couldn't join us because she had her kids with and didn't want to subject them to us vial creatures that pour booze into our stomachs and breath smoke into all our lungs (all for enjoyment too!).
At dinner with Paul we considered doing this up until we got back to the hotel but decided that it wouldn't be fair to Lisa if we did such an event as she would be left taking care of her kids while the rest of us sang our drunken hearts out. It was decided that we'd do a beer run (and the infamous curb jump) and just hang out in one of our hotel rooms, rotating people every so often to watch Lisa's kids so all could be involved. It was a much smarter way of doing it and a lot more fun. I can't forget Hollis (Lisa's son) struggling to stay awake for his mom and doing everything in his power to do so. Telling jokes, making up games, trivia, etc. That alone was a lot of fun.
So that is a long-winded version of why we almost did karaoke.

I just saw a listing for "Crisscross" at barnesandnoble.com available for preorder. I also saw that it's the Gauntlet Press edition and is $50. Does anybody know if there is going to be an edition for non-rich people (i.e. a trade edition) made available at the same time or soon thereafter?

If it follows previous releases the trade hardcover edition will be out sometime this fall.

well hello to all you rpj people. I may be new here but I've been a very big rpj fan since before I met dr. wilson. I just finished reading the latest and I am glad to see that jack was reunited with his father in their adventure down in Fla. I hope to herar from other members who want to help me discover some rpj books I might not have read thanks
