The four Indy movies are probably better than the three Mad Max movies, definitely better than the three Robocop movies (not a fan), I don't know about the six SW movies, that's close.
And for the record, I HATE Temple of Doom. The ONLY bigger drop between first and second movies in a series is Ghostbusters, imho.

Since I stumbled on his Mediocre film "Frantic" filmed in Paris and directed by Roman Polanski (Spelling). Apparently Mr. Ford has no problem traveling to a foreign country to work with a fugitive pedophile rapist who would face charges in this country.
But that's just me.

For the record, you'll have to explain your hatred of Temple of Doom. But, for the record, you won't have to explain the drop between Ghostbusters 1 & 2. In that case, the first was a classic rising to the top of the list, while the second is an anchor firmly dragging the first way down.
Another series that started to drop off dramatically after the first film: Alien/Aliens. The first two: incredible. The next two: disappointing.

Robocop was a great film. Mad Max and the Road Warrior were also great films. As a matter of fact the RW is the only film I can think of that would give the chase scene from Raiders a run for it's money.

Mad Max and Road Warrior (aka Mad Max II) are great movies that are very different from each other as sequels go just like Alien/Aliens. It's the third movie where things start to take a downhill slide.

Absolute horrid piece of crap. I read this thread before I went into the theater and it may have raised my expectations too highly. For an adventure film it had a sound premise and Ford was just as good in the role as he's always been but that was about it for the positives. Wait, I liked the hangar 51 scene and the ants but I draw the line there. Lebuff was painful to watch. Karen Allen brought nothing to the table. Not to be mean but Margot Kidder would have been just as good. John Hurt had to babble nonsensically for the last half of the film. What was the damn point of that? The special effects were cartoonish and unrealistic (ala Star Wars 1,2,3).
When they made Raiders the principals wanted to travel the world and see exotic lands. With this piece of shit they tried to recapture the magic using CGI, probably never had to venture further than Lucas's back deck.
Very disappointed.

Today I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and so far this is the best movie in this year! I've been waiting for new Indiana Jones movie since Last Crusade. Among 19 years, I saw many movies, but I.J. movies were always my favorite series. I repeatedly saw Raiders of the Lost Ark on VHS, then DVD.
I'll buy the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's DVD.
