It really sucks to lose books that you love. (I should know, many of mine were lended out never to be returned Sad ) I too am rebuilding my collection (thanks to the wonderful people at Amazon)

That's one of the major reasons I got onto the internet to begin with. To replace books I had loaned out but were never returned, and to find out-of-print books I had missed -- like FPW's REPRISAL.

abebooks.com is another good source of out-of-print books.

Yes they are! Barns and Nobles has a good out of print section as well.

You know, I have been to Barnes and Noble many a time and never ran across an out of print section...perhaps it is just my location?

I had too many problems with incompetence at B&N. I don't do business with them any more.

I believe he's referring to ordering used books from B&N, on-line.

abebooks (American Book Exchange) is an on-line source for used and out-of-print books:

Thank you again, Lisa.

I got 'The Select' yesterday, and read it through again last night. It'd been a long time since I re-read that one, and (as I'm sure you all know) it's quite a thriller!

Thanks again.

Marty

I picked up a copy of Gateways (Hardcover) trade edition at a bookstore last week. Once I got it home, I figured out that I already had a copy. Anyone interested in it? I think I spent $7 for it, plus a couple bucks for shipping would probably total less that $10 for it.

PM me if you're interested.

Butch

I should mention that, in addition to Lisa, Scott Miller read my sad tale on this thread and was kind enough to send me =several= fpw book that are currently out of print that I didn't have.

I recieved them this past week and have been wallowing in them ever since.

I wanted to say a public 'thanks' to Scott for his generosity, and again to Lisa for hers.

BTW...

I got 'The Select' from Lisa, as I posted a while ago. I read it 3 times in the first 5 days I had it.

I've had nightmares in my life, but I haven't had many so real that I actually thought during the dream 'is this just a dream?', and decided =in the dream= that it couldn't be a dream for it was just too real,... nor have I had any that I =litereally= woke up from screaming. At least not any of those for the last 30 or 35 years or so of my life.

As a public service announcement, I'd like to let y'all know that reading 'The Select' 3 times in 5 days will do that to you. At least, it did it to me. You are warned. Smile

Thanks again, Scott for the bounty you sent me;
Lisa, for the book that is my fav fpw book or 2nd favorite (I think now, having re-read (at long last) Black Wind, which Scott was kind enough to share with me, it might edge out 'the Select', but it's a tough, and happy, choice to make);
and to The Man himself, FPW, for scaring the living shit out me at a time in my life when I didn't think I could be scared anymore. And he did it with words he wrote more than 20 years ago, and those same words scared me then too. Smile

This board is a wonderful place, and I thank you all for your generosity to me at a time when I pariticularly needed it.

Marty
