Emma Thompson & Kenneth Branagh in Dead Again and (especially) Much Ado About Nothing . There are a few others that they did together, too.

Astaire & Rogers - though, I sometimes like some of his other partners better...

Laura Linney & Ed Harris in Absolute Power . Just hints of romance that are, I think, quite effective.

Toby McGuire and Seabiscuit... oh, that doesn't count (aside from the fact that there were 7 horses that played the part....) Wink

I was going to say Rocky and Bullwinkle . . . but now I won't.

But you =can= say Rocky and Adrian. And how 'bout Groucho and Margaret Dumont? Doesn't the unexpressed passion between those two just about melt the screen?

Call me an old fart (and alas, I'm probably on my way to that status, if not already there) but I think few, if any, of the modern couples are in the same league as those in the '30s, '40s and '50s classics. I will say that Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan were absolutely magical in "Sleepless in Seattle" and "You've Got Mail". I would love to see them link up again. Two great actors with wonderful chemistry on screen. Tracy and Hepburn? Maybe, given a few more movies together.

Ken, this is the "Rocky" that made Sylvester Stallone a star. One of the memorable scenes is Rocky, all beat up but he won the fight, calling for his girl as only Sylvester Stallone can. "Adrian!" With a New Yawk accent and sounding stupid to boot, nevertheless, it was a moving moment.

Thanks Maggers . . . and Jim. I've heard of "Rocky," but obviously, I've never seen the movie.
