All I'm certain of is that Thomas Jane was a hell of a Punisher. Disappointed that he won't be in the sequel.

Off-topic post alert...actually, Felinestevens suggested that in the Ryan Reynolds Will be Jack thread only a short time ago. [tips hat to Felinestevens]
I agreed but suggested that it would be confusing having the Punisher running around fighting the Otherness.
Now, AlvinFox buzzkills me with the news that TJ isn't even in Punisher: War Zone! Dag!
Still, as a stickler for continuity, I insist, in advance, that TJ will have to dye his hair brown to play Jack...it's way too blonde to be true to the FPW's books (and yes, it still upsets me that Schwarzenegger's hair was brown in Conan! Everyone knows that Conan's hair was BLACK!)

They waited around so long to finally get the movie going that he couldn't hold up his life/career waiting on them. The new guy looks like he'll be good, though.

I JUST watched this movie 2 days ago and it is still lingering with me. I agree that Hollywood often waters down or completely loses Mr. Kings themes, but I think this movie did a good job. I further assert that this ending was more striking. I liked the fact that the woman in the caravan of trucks was the one no one would help at the start of the movie - there is a clear theme there.
What I found must compelling was the depiction of the human response. The religious nut-case and her ill begotten followers were very telling of our own nature. To roughly quote Tommy Lee Jones in "MIB" - "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it."

I finally saw The Mist this past weekend and I did not read this thread before seeing it, just in case of spoilers.
I thought it was great. The Mist has been one of my favorite SK stories since it was first published and the film did not disappoint me at all. I even liked the little bit of extra time spent on Mrs. Carmody, making her seem a little more human and all the scarier for it.
In spite of the ending being wildly different in the film, I liked that ending quite a lot. I'd like to think that I would have waited longer before taking such extreme action, but who knows. The veil of civilization and logic is very thin and slips off quite easily when all hell breaks loose and people are in a constant state of fear for days on end.
Frank Darabont did an excellent job with the screenplay and direction. The fact that he was screenwriter/director was the only reason I dared to watch this film. In the wrong hands, it could have spoiled a longtime favorite for me. I'm very pleased that the result was just the opposite.
