John Candy- What's Your Favorite Movie? - Jay #1 - 10-27-2005 I think so. Though Tackleberry did the same thing in Police Academy 4 or 5. t4terrific Wrote:Was that the one where he put the gun in the shark's face underwater? I remember liking that one as a kid, but that was Hella-long ago. I don't remember much else about it. But I couldn't part with "Pure Drivel." If there is a more unique sense of humor than Martin's, I haven't found it. PD had me crying from laughter and caused several people to inquire if they could have some of what I was smoking. Personal faves: "A Public Apology", "The Sledgehammer: How it Works", "The Paparazzi of Plato", "Side Effects", "How I Joined Mensa", and "A Word From The Words". What a relief to discover I'm not the only one suffering sledgehammer anxiety. John Candy- What's Your Favorite Movie? - Scott Miller - 08-05-2007 Kenji Wrote:I read his book. The title is "Shopgirl". And, he made the movie, too. Got around to watching Shopgirl last night. I'm not really sure I liked it that much but I can't stop thinking about it. It worked its way under my skin so I'd have to say it is worth a look. It is definitely not a comedy and he is as subdued as I've ever seen him. I am Steve Martin fan and I saw all of his movies except for "Shopgirl". John Candy- What's Your Favorite Movie? - SickThing - 08-11-2007 My wife believes Steve Martin made Shopgirl just so he could get naked with Claire Danes. Neither of us liked the movie. I can't think of a John Candy film that isn't at least watchable. Even the worst are still good because he's in it. My favorites include Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, and one I don't think anyone else has mentioned, Summer Rental, though pretty much everything else is on the list, too. He had an amazing gift.
