I just figured since you were disgusted with this title you might have a better one. Since you don't, Harbingers will take it by default and go into the records as the next Repairman Jack with everyone, but yours, graces.

Maybe. Maybe Not. I'm pulling for an editor with some common sense to step in. Of course, editors with common sense don't exist in the real world...so I'll probably have to live with the hope that the book will be better than the title.
The reverse (Title better than book) happens more frequently in pop fiction. Its rare in Paul's work but did occur with Artifact and The Fifth Harmonic. Good titles, great premises, but I really did not like either book at all. They sit on the bottom shelf with Clive Barker, Anne Rice, and some Redneck Cookbook I got as a gift.

Other great book titles that we just don't see:
Reading for Dummies - uses international pictograms to explain how to use a book and what those smudges on the pages are for.
Women for Dummies - especially for that group of persons who just don't understand women. Includes a special section on gift buying and why a vacuum cleaner or lawn edger is not a good gift for your wife.
Cooking with the Antichrist - maybe better as a TV show. From the fires of Hell to the pit of your stomach, we're "Cooking with the Antichrist". Hi, I'm the Antichrist, and today we're making that most sinful dessert: Bombe aux Trois Chocolat.

I like the sense of something impending or looming, just around the corner or over the horizon. That felt strong in Reborn, Reprisal, and The Tomb. While I like all of the Adversary and RJ books, that theme kind of gets lost on the way to Nightworld. And while I like Nightworld, it felt rushed to me. But that was in the day before the reading public caught on to what an awesome character RJ was. RJ is now our link to that doom. And Harbingers is title that brings it back in line. I, for one, can't wait. Oh.....and maybe Oz Prather will come back.

Paul, among his many excellences, doesn't write-down to his readers. He throws in allusions that any educated person will understand (remember the reference to BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN in ALL THE RAGE?--the brawl on the steps of MM?) So HARBINGERS works foine fer meself. (Though I don't understand why he didn't go with my very commercial title: FREE VIAGRA!)

I'll agree that Oz had the virtue of loyalty to his own, but I can't say he was good! Or--and this is a thought hard to bear--has the Otherness made you an offer you couldn't refuse, Maggers?

LOL, FREE VIAGRA is an awesome title. I'm sure it's just the legalities of the trademarked name that stopped him from using it.
