Or are things getting weirder than even this old Fortean knows? Ferrets are known for their mathematical ability. Amoebae, on the other hand, are clueless; they multiply by dividing! I just had to add my comment. Hope it hasn't subtracted from the tone of this discourse--it certainly wasn't calculated to. Oh please oh please oh please... - Tony H - 07-25-2005 My bid goes for the gentle Greyhound. A tall slender Egyptian looking woman with a Greyhound. They are the only dog mentioned in the bible after all. (I've heard this, i just don't know what book this occurs.) Or are things getting weirder than even this old Fortean knows? :eek:Well, ferrets are specialists in non-Newtonian physics and inexplicable phenomena. As for the multiplication, that phenomenon is so well known that the ferret-loving community even has a name for it: Ferret Math. Magical Trevor was the most addicting song I've found. What about all the reptiles or avians? Mammals seem to be getting all the attention here (though personally I love huskies and collies when it comes to dogs). How about a lady with a big snake around her neck, or a pair of anoles on her shoulder? Or a talking parrot? That would get attention. Oh please oh please oh please... - Weatherford - 08-18-2005 I second the "gentle greyhound" or better yet, suggest a lurcher. Lurchers are the predecessors to greyhounds (whippetsand other coursing dogs.) They were bred by the gypsies for poaching.... and are essentially a combination of sight/scent and hearding dogs - always looking like the sight hound... There are some fascinating books on lurchers by Brian Plummer as well as EG Walsh (amazon.co.uk). My newest lurcher (my 3rd) was rescued from the Galway SPCA and, like most greyhounds, is a bit of a lounge lizard...
