Yup, I agree. I really enjoyed "The 13th Warrior."

And yup, I should not have included "Die Hard" here, for which I've already beaten my breast. It's a classic; should not be on this thread.

As for "Galaxy Quest," I wasn't sure everyone liked it, though everyone I know does. I don't know how well it did at the box office or what the critics' reviews were like. I know I saw it in the theater and never laughed so hard for so long and so often. And I still do, every time I see it, or even think of it.

The Mad American Wrote:Good call on this one. But come on, you put Christopher Walken and Gary Oldman in a movie together, 9.99 times out of ten its going to be pretty good.
But many people seem to loathe this movie.

I also love 13th Warrior. Still waiting for an Original Director's Cut.

Another vote for 13th Warrior. I thought I was the only one who liked it, hehe. I also like Josie and the Pussycats.

Oh yeah! I'd forgotten that one! I thought it was funny as well!

I'll second Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, too. I really like it, though I guess it is often derided. And recently. On this board. Smile

Of course you can join! No membership requirements, except for a vague, innate, undefinable sense of ELITEness. Which being my friend, you have!

The Mad American Wrote:The 13th Warrior. I really liked this movie and have seen it a ton of times. There are some great lines in it.

Antonio Banderas character Ibn "I am not a warrior"
Viking: "You soon will be little brother"

After the heroes notice that the son of the ruler they are helping is plotting against them they decide to pick a fight to make an example of one of the sons henchmen. After the little Viking gets into a fight with him while building the fortifications around the village, they decide to duel to the death, Ibn asks the Viking what happened and why they are fighting, the answer "An engineering dispute".

And it gets better every time you watch it. Love this movie! "That is because boy, you're words are feeble and twisted as an old woman's." Can't believe Dennis Storhoi hasn't been in another US movie.

My addition to the list: "Remo Williams"

What are films you like but everyone else hates? Come on, feel free to list anything no matter how critically (or publicly) maligned. Don't be embarassed.

I enjoy:

A.I.: I can see why one wouldn't dig it but I really enjoy the film. It's got some nice concepts, cinematography and acting. Among Spielberg's Top 10, IMO.

Titanic: While the film won many oscars and such, many have derided the film since it's release. But I really enjoy it. Some nice epic-scale filmmaking from master James Cameron. and I'm still coming with more to post up....

1. BEDAZZLED - That sunset!

2. BRAIN DONORS

3. RAISING ARIZONIA

4. GOING DOWN THE ROAD - (its a Canadian cult classic)

5. CHITTY-CHITTY BANG BANG!
