Nit Pick about Gateways - Biggles - 12-28-2004

Ken Valentine Wrote:Many of us here are shooting enthusiasts. As far as I know, I'm the only real gun "Whacko" who regularly posts on this board. (I think Biggles is more of an enthusiast. Big Grin ) My current collection numbers, 36 handguns, 20 rifles and 11 shotguns.

Hey!!! Who are you NOT calling a "Whacko"?
Big Grin

I have more pistols than I can count (in calibres: .22LR, .22WMR, .25ACP, .30 Mauser, 7.62 Tokarev, .30 Carbine, .32ACP, .380ACP, 9mm Parabellum, 9mm Makarov, .400 CorBon, .44 Magnum and .45ACP), 3 revolvers (a Ruger Blackhawk convertible in .38/40 WCF and 10mm, a Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum and a Chief's Special in .38 Special), 2 rifles (a Spanish Mauser in .308 and a Yugo M48 in 8mm Mauser), numerous carbines (Mini-14s, SKSs, a Grendel R-31, a KelTec Sub 9, an M1 Carbine). I especially like to acquire military surplus pistols. One of my favorite carry guns is still my ex-East German Stasi (secret police) 9mm Makarov. Smooth as silk and very accurate. I feed it CorBon hollowpoints. When supreme discretion is required, I stuff my Seecamp .32 in my pocket (but not the one in which I carry my keys). And of course, when I need 10 rounds of 9mm in a compact package, I grab my KelTec P11.

Oh, thank goodness for that! Wouldn't want you accidentally losing toes, kneecaps or any other body part -- or your keys, for that matter! Big Grin

THIS is what we've missed, Ken! Delightful, tongue-in-cheek lunacy! Big Grin

You know what they say: "The only thing worse than ED is an AD". Big Grin But seriously, I have no fear of carrying my Seecamp sans holster in my pocket, but a key or keychain could catch on the trigger and cause an AD. Thus, being a righty, I move my keys to my left pocket when I put the Seecamp in my right pocket. The Seecamp is the perfect anti-carjack weapon, because when the would be carjacker thinks he's getting your keys, he's actually getting up to six silvertip hollowpoints in the face.

I wish I was smarter...I don't know what this means...

"AD" stands for "accidental discharge". I won't go into what "ED" means.

I'm serious . . . guns are merely a hobby.

When hobby's are outlawed . . . only outlaws will have hobby's.

I should have stuck with my original post. I was going to use only the portion of your statement about being an ax murderer, because it was clear that was said tongue-in-cheek.

I know you're serious about your hobby.

So, what's this going to become now? An I'm whackier than you are thread?!

I'll see your whackiness and raise you.

I also reload ammunition and cast my own bullets.

I reload and cast bullets for 9 different handgun cartridges, as well as 44 caliber balls for my Cap-and-Ball pistols.

I reload 7 rifle cartridges and cast bullets for all but two of them.

I also reload 12 gage shotgun shells and cast my own slugs for the slug rounds I shoot.

For those who are unaware of the significance of this, it costs more than $300 dollars for a thousand rounds of 45 acp, but I can cast and reload 1,000 rounds for about $38 dollars. Casting 1,000 bullets, lubing and sizing them takes about 3 hours. Reloading them into 1,000 rounds of ammunition takes another 3 hours. Which makes my labor worth about $50 dollars an hour. And I get very accurate ammunition.
