Twilight Zone - Kenji - 03-28-2012

My favorite episodes are Twenty-Two, The Rip Van Winkle Caper, The Eye of the Beholder, Death Ship, and No Time Like The Past.

And...yes, Time Enough to Last is the masterpiece!

My favorite one was the one where the pitch man had to convince Death to let him live long enough to make a big pitch, then made the big pitch trying to occupy Death long enough to spare a little girl.

I just watched this episode last night on Netflix. It was a good one, one that I don't recall having seen before.

I liked that one as well. There are so many that I haven't seen or that I can't remember for sure if I've seen or not.

My love of TZ comes from my old man (rest his soul). I remember like it was yesterday that we were about to go somewhere (think to my grandparents' house) and him and my mom were watching The Invaders and we couldn't leave until it was over because he wanted us to see the twist at the end. It was cool. I love old memories from childhood.

Twilight Zone - The Mad American - 03-31-2012

I recently watched the episode The Gift. I had never seen that one before and really liked it.

I just started watching episodes when I could on streaming. Surprised at how many episodes I have never seen even though I was a huge fan and would watch them late at night growing up.

Twilight Zone - Sigokat - 04-02-2012

I finished Season 2 last night and moved on to Season 3, but only watched the first episode which was Two with Charles Bronson.

I had recently watched The Silence (skipped over it last night) and that has to be another one of my favorite episodes.

Don't forget Elizabeth Montgomery in that one, if she could only have twitched her nose and fixed everything.

I was talking about this with a friend the other day, why is it you don't hear Rod Serling's name among the great sci-fi writers, the man was a genius and a hell of a hard worker. I think he wrote like 90 something out of the 156 episodes.

Yeah that is true...even though she was kind of annoying in the episode. I mean she tried to shoot Bronson with a laser gun! LOL

Good question. I can only imagine its because he's remembered more as a TV writer than a "book" writer, even though he had written award winning books and screenplays. And he was one hell of a hard worker and he truly believed in the Twilight Zone and his ideals. Just watch the Mike Wallace interview if you haven't seen it already. Rod Serling really stood by his ideals and what he believe in and that's another reason I admire him and his work so much.

Yeah she was pretty funny in it, goes back to what you were saying about how chock full of stars or before they were stars this show was, I've counted three Star Trek, original series, alumni in it so far.

Like you said the man had integrity, he was of a different caliber than most people then or now. Thats the beauty of the Twilight Zone though, you can look at it like a regular sci-fi show and walk away entertained or you can see it as the sci-fi show with some very heady social messages and walk away entertained as well as mulling over something you hadn't considered before.

Speaking of that Mike Wallace interview, he would be astounded by todays lack of censorship compared to what he had to fight against.

That was the conclusion we came to, about his writing that is, its a shame though, I'd put his work up there against any classic sci-fi writer as well as any of his contemporaries. Hell, he might have done more for the popularity of science fiction by making a tv show than any of those writers.

I forgot to mention earlier in relation to the episode "Two"

What is up with that can of fried chicken and how do I get me some of that!?
