Movie Monsters - Bluesman Mike Lindner - 10-26-2010

The Mad American Wrote:It is that time of year when we get marathons of all different types of scary/thriller/horror movies.

I have always been a fan of monster movies. I have very fond memories of staying up all night watching monster movies on my old 12 inch black and white telelvision on or around Halloween.

I am curious as to what the groups favorite movie monsters are.

I have a ton because I am a total geek when it comes to monster movies. Christopher Lee as Dracula, The Wolfman (the original) Frankenstein (all the obvious ones). I wil save a full fleshed out list after we see what some others like.

What are some of yours?

I recall the giant robots from THE MYSTERIANS best. Guess I was 5. "Look, Daddy!" "We'll beat them, son."

And we did.

The Day the Earth Stood Still
Dracula
The Wolfman
Frankenstein
Abbott and Costello Met Frankenstein
The Mummy
The Thing From Another World

For the more modern stuff:
Alien
Aliens
Predator
Cloverfield yeah, I know
The Thing
Tremors
Zombieland or anything zombie as a matter of fact. Big Grin

What's wrong with Cloverfield? I liked that movie.

Rasalom ... oh wait ... that movie sucked ....

I really love old 50's and 60's sci fi/horror movies ... those are the best ...

Now I loved the Godzilla filmBig Grin
But Cloverfield... that didn't rock my boat, I was bored with it:o

Cloverfield Vs Godzilla, now that is a film concept.

It may have been an entertaining movie but Godzilla it was not. That is the problem I have with it. I grew up loving Godzilla and everything to do with and that movie took all that, took a giant dump on it, and tried to tell us it was Godzilla. Just my opinion on it.Big Grin

I was one of the few people on this board and others I visited who actually really really disliked Cloverfield. In fairness to the movie I saw it when I had a perforated eardrum so any and all movement would make me motion sick and all that jerky camera work in Cloverfield made me feel sea-sick times a thousand.

I just thought the shaky camera work was waaaaaaaaaayyyy over done. I mean even before the monster attacked the camera looked like it was being held by a heroin addict in withdrawal after a two week bender.

I thought Cloverfield was pretty good. I do agree about the shakey camera bit....but got past it when we watched it again at home. Being able to stop the film and really get a good look at the monsters did it for me.

the creators said that the monster was actually a baby that was lost and confused and looking for its mother.
