It is my belief that an Infernal is a mechanical device that can transport a person from Earth to an Other Universe.
The Cleanibg machine sent people somewhere
Prathers mystery machine sent people someplace else
The purpose of the Lilotongue was to hide people from their enemies
The Tesla Device in the basement of the Ehler home sent the conspiracy people somewhere
I don't recall the ring of Chaos having that effect

Good point. I was thinking the opposite direction (how the demons arrived in "Demonsong"). You're probably correct.
