Taken - Pacal - 02-16-2009

This is all hearsay, but I work with someone who recently visited a prison to play a ballgame against some of the inmates. Turns out he drilled an inmate, a la Meet the Parents, in the chest only to find out he was in for murder. It was OK though, he's a nice guy doing Life for hunting down the guy who killed his daughter. I guess that's why I prefer movies sometimes. The credits roll and the 'good guy' walks off-screen. Oh well, real life is painted in shades of grey.

Given =only= that information, if I had been on the jury, I would not have voted to convict. Not in one million years.

Taken - Brian - 02-16-2009

To get back on the topic, Taken was a wild ride that will lead you along a believable path. As others have said, I love when the bad guys pick on the wrong guy. They never know what skill sets their "victim" might possess.

Taken - Biggles - 02-16-2009

I always like to see the bad guys lose. In my practice, that's usually the cops. In this case, it's the kidnappers. Anyone who dares to infringe on the freedom of others should e@t $hit @ die, whether it be cops or kidnappers. I really enjoyed this movie. Even without the brutality and body count, it would have been great, but the dead bodies are a big plus! Big Grin

Agreed! The ending reminded me a bit of Jack in "The Tomb". The pride he took in his success in the recovery. He trained his whole life for that. That job was for him!

Taken - Pacal - 02-20-2009

I saw Taken last night. What a terrific genre movie. Of course I made the mistake of looking up reviews this morning. I just don't understand why people who don't like the thriller/action genre movie even bother to review it. There's no value in it for their readers. Back on track, I loved the action, quick and to the point. It reminded me of Jack, disabling when appropriate and wiping out when it's needed. Liam Neeson was an unexpected surprise but very believable. My advice, bring a little suspension of disbelief, sit back, and enjoy.

The boyfriend and I saw Taken and really enjoyed it. It was a great thriller/action movie, moved along at the right pace and Neeson was really good.
