R.I.P., Bob May - Mick C. - 07-12-2009 BTW, did you know that Fortean researcher Bob Chorvinksy thinks he has identified two of the alien suits from Lost in Space (the head from one, the body from another) as those that make-up artist John Chambers created and later lent to the makers of the famed Patterson Bigfoot 16mm film? (That's the famous clip we've all seen of bigfoot loping along through the woods.) Chorvinsky thinks that Chambers was in on the hoax. I was at the Spy Museum in Washington DC a couple of weeks ago, and they had a display on Chambers, who won an Oscar for makeup effects for Planet of the Apes. He also did special makeup work on contract for the CIA, and was awarded the Intelligence Star (the intelligence community's highest decoration) for his work. Chambers must have led an interesting life. R.I.P., Bob May - jmalton - 07-23-2009 Mick C. Wrote:Entropy, entropy, all winds down. It was actually from a Man-Thing comic book (where Howard the Duck first appeared) circa 1975 or thereabouts, where the Man-Thing came up against the Cult of Entropy - that was their mantra. (The title it appeared in was the summer Man-Thing Annual that had, historically, the greatest double-entendre comic book title in recorded history: GIANT SIZE MAN-THING! I remember reading that when my sister's boyfriend saw the title and burst into hysterical laughter.) Good catch, jmalton! |
