It'd be just like reading Reborn without having read The Keep or The Touch. It'd still be a good story, but you would be missing a lot of background info on who the characters are/what they're doing/where they've been etc But you'd prob still enjoy it, even if it isnt the ideal way to watch it. I'd be okay if it was just Marlo, but if he had Chris and/or Snoop with him then its time to head the other direction. The Wire - Silad - 04-01-2009 Kenji Wrote:Thanks, bones. I'll watch it. Season 1 and season 3 tie in. Season 2, has a lot of the characters from season 1 as sub plots but the main thread of the story is seperate. The Wire - colburn0004 - 01-22-2010 Had to bring this back up for a great tv show. Just started watching this show a few weeks ago and last night I watched the first episode of the fifth season. This show is absolutely amazing. I was kind of skeptical coming into it as I have always been a huge fan of The Shield and was always told this was better. I think they are two different shows completely but it's safe to say The Wire is amazing. Season 4 was crazy. I have never seen a show that was just not afraid to pull punches and a few things hit pretty hard. The last episode of season 4 could be the best hour of television I have ever seen. Was also nice to see great child actors. Now on to the final season and I am sad to see the show end. To be tied to these characters so closely in a short amount of time of watching just shows how great the show is. I didn't know what to expect, so many people said it was the worst season, but I thought it was great. The last 3 episodes in the season were probably the best. Loved the series and I am quite sad to see some of the characters go. I thought some of the deaths in the last season were great and handled well. Snoop, and Prop Joe were great scenes. The death I hated most of all was Omar's. I may be biased as he was a favorite character of mine but to have the death in the middle of an episode, and to be by Kavon(i think his name was) was just sort of a let down. I wanted so much for him to get some justice for Butch. McNulty's scene at the bar has to be one of the best scenes of the whole series it really had me smiling and I think set up for the last 20 minutes of the episode. Great show, great ride. Sad to see it end. On a second note is was amazing to see how many of the characters were based off real people and in Snoops case were even played by themselves. I was surprised to find out the jumping out the window scene with omar was based on an actual event with one of the insparations for omar(who coincidentaly was the man who was killed in that scene). It was so unhollywood. colburn0004 Wrote:On a second note is was amazing to see how many of the characters were based off real people and in Snoops case were even played by themselves. She has an autobiography that I skimmed through(I struggle with nonfiction) that is worth a look. The show spoiled my viewing pleasure because for months I was disappointed by anything I watched because it wasn't as good as it. The Wire - GeraldRice - 02-15-2010 I'm midway through season 1. I have it on Demand. I love how everyone has warts and how almost everyone has redeeming qualities. I was surprised to see the one kid with braids takes care of 7 other children and makes sure they get to school. I love how these shows recycle ppl. I'm pretty sure Preston is the same hot-head kid from Oz. And the skinny guy who's on Fringe now. The Wire - colburn0004 - 02-15-2010 GeraldRice Wrote:I'm midway through season 1. Like Stringer Bell on the office for a few episodes and until I watched The Wire I always referred to the skinny guy as Abadon from Lost but now i always remember him as Daniels. I only finished the series maybe a month ago and I already want to rewatch it. It's just that good. |
