Maggers Wrote:I was going to add some deaths from films still in the theater but I decided not to because folks may not have seen them yet. Seems I'm right.

Be careful in reading this thread. You may find out endings to films you haven't yet seen, both old and new.

Sorry folks about the Sweeny spoiler. I fixed up my earlier post and people can choose to read spoilers in my future ones.

I was traumatized by Mufasa's death in Lion King. Wasn't expecting such a rough end in a Disney movie.

Chunks of bodies are also kind of memorable. There was that ripped-off arm in one of the Jurassic Park movies, and the hunk-y Wink body in The Mist.

The deaths in Silence of the Lambs and The Green Mile.

And the Piranha movie. Bloody water + kiddie imagination =

I know it's played for laughs, but Alan Rickman as the sheriff did a fantastic job of his departure in 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves'.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Al Pacino in the remake of Scar Face, but Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner places real close. Alan Rickman in Die Hard does not even come close.

IrishKKC Wrote:I'm curious. What do you guys think are the best cinematic deaths? What I mean is who do you remember dying in certain movies?

I got 4. Willem DaFoe in Platoon. Jake Gyllenhaal in Donnie Darko. Vincent D'Onofrio in Full Metal Jacket and James Caan in The Godfather. What do you guys think are the most memorable deaths?

One of my favorite movie deaths is King Cong's in the recent version. The big guy shows more emotion than most of the bio-actors.

Even though you don't actually see them, Butch and Sundance heading out into the courtyard with guns blazing is a favorite.

So many of mine have already been listed, so I'll just add one more to the already incredible mix:

Hudson in Aliens.

"Come on. Come on, baby. Oh, you want some more, fuck you! ..."

Arnold's "Thumbs Up" in T2...
William Wallace's "drawing and quartering" in Braveheart...
Boromir buying it in LOTR 1

The first 2 still make me cry like a baby.

Happy New Year guys...

Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio in The Departed. Leo's death was so quick and unexpected. When Damon walks in and Wahlberg is in his room... well I cheered.

Another one I cheered for is the sick and twisted doctor in Hostel

Daniel Day Lewis in Gangs Of New York

Christian Bale in 3:10 To Yuma didn't see it coming.
