Who will be Abe? - IrishKKC - 12-16-2007 Only if John Candy was still alive. I always picture him covered in crumbs and bird poo helpin Jack. Toby Jones is who I have in mind - he certainly is capable of it, even if he's slightly off in the visual description. The man’s a Hobbit!! Abe can’t be played by a Hobbit! Maybe if he works out at the gym for a couple of years, dyes his hair black and work on his Puerto Rican accent, perhaps he could play Julio . . . Naa, that’ll never work either. Who will be Abe? - Weatherford - 12-17-2007 Al-Dog Wrote:I had thought the actor who played the lawyer on NBC’s Kidnapped last season would make a great Abe. I finally got off my butt and found out his name is Ricky Jay. He’s a Brooklyn born Jewish-American who in addition to his work as a character actor, is a professional slight of hand artist. yeah - he looks good! Good call on both these, Webby! Judd Hirsch would be my first choice but at 73 he may be a little too experienced. Rob Reiner would be an excellent choice as well...he would also be the right girth to play the role. However, at 61, he also may be a bit too experienced. I also thought of Billy Crystal but he's definitely in too-good a shape and he is also 61. Abe is supposed to have a Daughter (whose apartment Gia and Vicky use in the movie to get away from the Westphalen house). My brain isn't what it used to be, but Abe's daughter is in College, isn't she? I recommend Robin Williams...he can act, he can definetly do the voice and, at 57 (this July) he is the youngest of the bunch, so he would be young enough to do the sequels. I am sure to come up with a few more suggestions but it is late and my mind is mush (even moreso than usual). -Wapitikev Who will be Abe? - Ken Valentine - 03-19-2008 Wapitikev Wrote:My brain isn't what it used to be, but Abe's daughter is in College, isn't she? What Abe said about his daughter in THE TOMB, was that she wouldn't talk to him at all because she was opposed to what he did -- sell guns -- but that didn't stop her from letting him pay for her college education. This gives me the impression that she had finished college. Ken V. Thanx for the refresher, Ken, again. ![]() So any of the actors mentioned would work, then. -Wapitikev Who will be Abe? - Ken Valentine - 03-19-2008 Wapitikev Wrote:Thanx for the refresher, Ken, again. Probably, although FPW once said that when he wrote Abe into the story, he saw the actor Jack Weston in his mind. See the character "Struts" in the Tom Selleck movie HIGH ROAD TO CHINA. Unfortunately, Jack Weston died in 1996, and would be too old for the part today, but back when the book was written . . . he would have been perfect! Ken V. Who will be Abe? - Sam - 03-19-2008 I agree with Wapitikev on Robin Williams. Take away his annoying persona and he's a damn good actor. John Pinette - (Mr.Bumpo in The Punisher) He's a comedian but he might have the hidden chops. Pruitt Taylor Vince - This guy's a great actor. I've always pictured Abe looking like (a much larger) Michael Douglas in Falling Down. Think I've found a great Rasalom, though. Doug Hutchison. He's fantastic at portraying assholes. He's creepy all right but I'd prefer Frank Langella over Doug...Frank was great (at being eeeevil) in the 9th Gate; he even played Draclua, back in '79. I've also, always, loved to hate Iain Glen. Since we won't see Rasalom until Conspiracies, perhaps we need a separate thread for him...I'm sure it would be a hit. -Wapitikev Who will be Abe? - Legion - 03-19-2008 I can def see him as Abe, but if hes still breathing me may be too old. |
