Superman Returns - Jamo - 08-20-2006 Kenji Wrote:Is it not released in Germany yet? Sure,. since 3 days. But I had not the chance to watch it. I think I will watch it Tuesday, cause then it's not so expensive It's cinema-day ^^ Superman Returns - mike36799 - 08-22-2006 I also thought it was boring, but Pirates was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. As for Superman, I had problems with characters too. I thought Lex was terrible, not acting, but I couldn't get into the character how they portrayed him. He came off to me as a not so funny villian, when in fact he should be a supervillian... Superman was o.k. I like the guy from Smallville a lot better, I could have seen him playing it much better. As for my girlfriend, she loved Superman, and couldn't stop talking about him afterwards She told me a week after that they had to digitally make him "midsection" smaller according to the tabloids. Superman Returns - Mike Hanson - 08-22-2006 ** POTENTIAL SPOILERS ** I was lucky enough to see SUPERMAN RETURNS in an IMAX theatre which showed most of the special effects sequences in 3-D (with the help of special oversize polarized glasses). This highly visceral experience aside (and it was at times overwhelming) I found all of the movie's flaws slowly and surely falling into place in the hours after watching it. This puppy needed a major final rewrite... As for a basic overview, the film is, in many ways, simulteneously a "remake" of the original Donner Superman I (basically putting Lex Luthor's New California idea on steroids) and a "sequel" to Superman II (addressing Superman's tryst with Lois and Luthor's discovery of the fortress of solitude)...and as such, it comes off a little weird...but only for those who have seen the previous films. For those new to the Superman franchise, this latest flick will no doubt seem surprisingly original.... Lex Luthor's big evil plan lacks the simple logical consistency of his efforts in Superman I. Lois the brave and daring reporter has been turned into an understated extra with all the boring gravitas of an assistant district attorney on Law and Order. Ladies beware childbirth. Jimmy has apparently discovered the fountain of youth and remains eternally early-20's, Perry White has been stripped of his over-the-top larger-than-life bombastic appeal and left with an all too real world-weary cynical stare, and Clark Kent, the simple-natured, awkward, bumbling introvert has suddenly become slightly hip and normal. What the hell happened to our beloved characters? The effects are great, the super-hero conflict is really just a retread of Superman I, the new actor is fine as supes but not so electric as Clark, Kryptonite has a very inconsistent lethality throughout the third act, and Kryptonian spacecraft are apparently as awkward and defect-laden as the U.S. Space Shuttle. Ultimately I recommend seeing it on the big screen if it is still playing near you. It is a real visual achievement and a fun way to kill a couple of hours. Mike Superman Returns - Jamo - 08-23-2006 I watched it yesterday! I think it is a very good movie. Not only action. Emotions, too. And stuff...I donÄt have the time to write more, I have sports now, so, I write if I'm back..perhaps Superman Returns - Annice Burdeos - 08-23-2006 saynomore Wrote:Smallville, the TV show, tells a better Superman story than Superman Returns does. And Smallville's Lex Luther blows away Stacey's Lex by a mile. I agree that it was a Donner/Reeves tribute more than an inspired single piece. But am looking forward to part II. Singer intends to continue this idea of Superman's illegitmate child as the starting point for the next film if he is given the go ahead The in your face Christ allegory turned me off. This Superman seems made more for the international marketplace, so much of the iconic Supermanness was missing. Routh, try as he might, was to me no Chris Reeves and Spacey whose work I generally loved in the '80's/90's and 2000, was a dull villain, especially when seeing Hackman's interpretation. Superman Returns wasn't so much reinvented but a retread with a glossy veneer............ Superman Returns - Jay #1 - 08-26-2006 actually Lois discovered it. After all, she wasn't the most beautiful creature on the planet in Superman 1 and 2. That smoking really does something for people. Heck, even the old Lois had a raspy voice that implied she'd been smoking too long.
