I was a teenager before I got a social Securtiy number. My mom registered my sister and I. Had she not done that, we they wouldn't have known we existed. Apparently Jack's dad never got him hooked up. If I remember The Tomb correctly, Jack talks about how he started college (Rutgers?). Even when I was in college (back when dinosaurs ruled the earth), you needed a SSN to apply. So he must have had a SSN. But if you don't have a W2 (4? - gosh, I miss my mind) our friends at the IRS have no particular reason to expect a return from you. He does say that he has no "real" social security number. But maybe he'll get a job for McDonald's security consultant or Bodyguard. Like he did it in "A day in the Life". I think it's much more recent that it was required. His parents may not have gone through the process, and a SSN wasn't necessary for him at all. He could've had nothing but summer jobs cutting grass, walking dogs, etc. and been paid in cash. As long as Jack never worked at McDonald's, there would be no start to his payment of payroll taxes. In the origanal Tomb, Jack was in his mid thirties duringing the latter part of the 80's. Back then they weren't given at birth but when you got a job. But when FPW brings the Tomb up to speed for Nightworld, Jack will be in his mid thirties in the 2000's. That put's him where I am and I had one when I was about twelve. I don't remember why I needed one though. KRW |
