LOST Season 5 *Spoiler Edition* - Sigokat - 03-10-2009

I finally got caught up as well. The last 3 episodes I downloaded from iTunes have been choppy and jumpy and the dialogue has been off with the actors speaking them. It was rather frustrating trying to watch.

Perhaps I need to download a codec or something? If so, does anyone know how to do that?

Anyway, on to the episodes.

I'm glad to see things are getting somewhat better and less perdictable then the earlier episodes this season.

Even though the statue was only seen from the back it sure looked like an Egyptian statue...perhaps Anubis? The god of the dead would sure be an interesting statue to have on the Island. Or maybe it was Horace? I was hoping there wouldn't be an Egyptian connection, but hell I'm not the writers so oh well.

I also picked up on the comment about the pregnant women leaving by the sub, but this woman actually did have her baby. My guess is that the pregnancy issues didn't start until later...perhaps something to do with Ben.

I too was wondering how Ben could be on the Island again. Its one thing to dismiss what he said previously as a lie, but if we assume that Widmore left by the same manner and he cannot get back, then perhaps Ben told the truth for once. Also, he's currently on Hydra Island, not the main Island. Perhaps that has something to do with it as well.

Sawyer's ability to con Horace was pretty convincing as well. Also, I took his comment about the eyeliner as just being another one of Sawyer's jabs at another person...not that it had great significance to Richard Alpert's orgins. He called Ben "bug-eyes"...does that mean Ben has bug genes in his blood? Of course not, its just Sawyer being an ass...I think the same can be said for the eyeliner comment as well.

Overall, things are getting better for this season for me. When I got back from leave last week I downloaded all the episodes I was missing and just finished catching up last night. I just didn't have the desire to watch them, but now things are finally starting to feel like LOST again.

I think the fact that Ben (and Locke, who presumably also 'can't come back') is on the other island (Hydra?) might be relevant here. Maybe once the wheel is turned you can't get back to the main island. Who knows?!

Damn, you beat me!

Having the pregnant women leave by sub to have their babies elsewhere could just be good common sense, so that greater medical help could be available should they need it.

I've always thought that Ben's mother dying while giving birth to Ben in her 7 month is somehow connected to women on the Island, in Ben's era, not being able to carry a pregnancy beyond 7 months.

As usual, we shall see what we shall see....

Good point and you're probably right. I can't remember what that intern said about why there wasn't a doctor which let to Juliet delivering the baby. Was the doctor on the sub as well?

Speaking of Ben's mother...can't remember what episode it was (one of the last 3) when they were on the plane and Jack said to Ben, "How can you read?"

And Ben replied "My mother taught me."

Probably just Ben being a smartass, but I was immediately like Ben's mother died...wtf, Ben?

LOST Season 5 *Spoiler Edition* - Medusa - 03-10-2009

Ben and the others used some kind of poison or nerve gas to kill all the Darma people. Maybe the residue hanging around is what's killing the pregnant women.

LOST Season 5 *Spoiler Edition* - Sigokat - 03-10-2009

Medusa, that's a possibility, but I personally think it was more of a punishment from the Island for something Ben did...perhaps the killing of the DI was what prompted the Island to "punish" the others and not let them have children.

Like Maggers said, guess we'll have to wait and see

I saw this on another forum and thought I'd share. Here's a picture of the Egyptian goddess Taweret:

And here's the statue from Lost:

Thanks for posting those pics. When I posted about Taweret last week, I was too lazy to grab the pics and put them in my post. It does make sense it would be the goddess of protection in childbirth considering the (at least recent) issues with pregnancies. Not sure how much sense it would make if the pregnancy issues just started happening recently though.

maybe because the statue is gone the pregnancy problems arose? But the question is, what caused the statue to fall?

Did Sawyer and his group see the statue in their current timeline or was there one more flash after they saw the statue? I can't remember right now for sure.
