AlvinFox Wrote:But Juliet wasn't originally an Other. And neither was Ben hence his still being with 316.

Which begs the question....what defines an OTHER? How long do you have to be on the Island? From whence did you have to come? How did you come to be on the Island? What is your allegiance to the Island? Who's your daddy?

What what what makes an Other?

LOST Season 5 *Spoiler Edition* - colburn0004 - 02-27-2009

Do we know for sure that the people still witht the 316 plane didn't jump also? Scratch that It wouldnt make sence for them to be shooting at the jumpers and not go with them. Which brings me to my question. What brings them to shoot first? Just that they stole the boat? The new guy seemed like he was hiding something or quick to shoot when he hid the gun from the cop that was with sayid.

As to the ones who didnt jump why didnt lepidus and whoever is with him(sun?) or locke jump too? I can understand ben not jumping as it seems like the island doesnt want him if Jacob or whoever is telling John it is his time but why didn't he jump? I love this season its answering a lot of questions but its making a lot too.

sorry for this rambling. On a side not when i was watching the clips of past episodes it showed where Richard had told John that the O6were already back. How does he know this? At what place in time was that? That clip just hit me and made me so confused.

Not in Sunny England. I'm always jealous of the enhanced episodes - thinking about what little tidbits I'm missing out on!

Jamo Wrote:The plane crashed and the "important" people disappeared, okay. To where? A special place on the island?

Why didn't Ben disappear? Is he on the "bad side" for the island, and Widmore on the good to protect it? So the island doesn't want Ben coming back?

The way I see it, the "important" people 'time-shifted' when the plane flew into the island's radius, hence them just disappearing from the plane.
As to why Ben didn't disappear (and Frank Lapidus and, more importantly, Sun) well, that's more tricky and is the subject of much discussion and confusion on many websites.
Here's my take. The people who are time-shifting are those that came to the island, that is, people who originally didn't belong there. But this doesn't explain why Frank Lapidus doesn't time-shift. And also Sun (if she's the woman who went with Frank on the canoe). So take that with a pinch of salt!

LOST Season 5 *Spoiler Edition* - Paul R - 03-02-2009

I think the big mystery after this episode is why Ben saved Locke from hanging himself and then went ahead and killed him anyway. It could be because Locke revealed his knowledge of Eloise Hawking, but I wonder if it was something to do with 'the island not wanting him to die'. Remember when we had Michael repeatedly trying to kill himself last season? Well, it turned out that the island wasn't finished with him and so it wouldn't let him die. Could this be taken to mean that the island won't let anyone kill themselves but it isn't so strict on (or has no control over) people being killed by someone else? Sounds daft, but it would explain why Ben initially saved Locke - he knew that his suicide would fail so he gained his trust first in order to wrong-foot him and then 'do the deed'.

You're not daft, that just might be it. You can't suicide. But you can be killed.
