He messed his body up bigtime. He has an afterword at the end of the book that is very touching and thought-provoking about drug use and abuse and all the friends he lost. One of the persons is a undercover cop. The other person is a junkie, and eventually he starts investigating himself. Hey... That sounds alot like Gun with Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem It's a must read if you like PKD, Not a spoiler, but ....The kangaroo A Scanner Darkly - Annice Burdeos - 03-17-2005 Maggers Wrote:Thanks, Law Dawg! The idea of A Scanner Darkly reminded me of a Kurt Russell/Mel Gibson film:Tequila Sunrise I don't know if you ever saw Tequila Sunrise but the premise of that film had Raul Julia's Police Chief looking for himself- as he was the drug dealer that Mel Gibson's character was looking for !!! And wasn't Ed Norton's character the dark side of Pitt's in Fight CLub? A Scanner Darkly - Maggers - 03-17-2005 SPOILER ALERT FOR "FIGHT CLUB" Annice Burdeos Wrote:...And wasn't Ed Norton's character the dark side of Pitt's in Fight CLub? Yes, Ed Norton and Brad Pitt share a brain in "Fight Club." And I curse Rosie O'Donnell to heck and back for brazenly giving away the ending to that movie on her show back when. I didn't care much for her, and after that, she zoomed to the top of my list of genuine rat finks. She felt it was her duty to give away surprise endings to films and books. What a .... ooohhh, words fail me, or at least words that I can print here. Spoiling a movie is loathesome in my book, especially if it's done on purpose and with malice aforethought and on network television. Just finished ARMOR by Steakman (I think ?) and the Dark Elf series by Salvatore. Looking for my next great read.... A Scanner Darkly - Kenji - 12-16-2006 At last! I saw this movie in a theatre and it was EXCELLENT! What a terrific animation! And very unique. It's not like Miyazaki's animations or Disney animations, but I prefer this digital paint. Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, and Rory Cochrane(in CSI:Miami)....their animation characters were well made! Hallucination scenes were creepy, but for some reason, at the same time those hallucinations were funny and made me laugh. But I don't wanna experience it! Lesson from this movie: DON'T TAKE THE ILLEGAL DRUGS! Drugs crash your brain and make you puke.
