Anyone reading anything good in the horror genre - ALowerDeep - 02-11-2005 You said you needed a specific genre for some reccomendations well i do like monster novels, and ghosts and what not. Also if any writers in the Lovecraft vein are out there i would be interested. A few more that i like that are horror would be Wither and its subsequent sequels by john passarella. Necroscope was good but its over now which makes me sad. Also i like the marietta press editions of New Mythos Legends and CJ Hendersons anthology's. Once again i like James Moore's Under the Overtree,Fireworks,Serenity Falls, and Possessions all really fun classic horror with the best Hero besides Jack named Jonathon Crowley. Cant wait for the next Jack book! Okay, here's a few monster type books that I enjoyed off the top of my head: Sleeper by Steven Harriman (Spruill pen-name) Stinger by Robert McCammon Vampyrrhic by Simon Clark Cain and/or Hunter by James Byron Huggins (more action/thriller than horror) Jinn - Matthew B.J. Delaney (agree with whoever else recc'd this) Darkfall and/or The Wyrm - Stephen Laws Stinger and The Wyrm are very similar in premise, but not in execution. Enjoy! It's a "Best Of" list compiled from a survey of members back in 1996. It's a bit dated, but I see more than a few titles below that I've missed. If you're still looking for good horror, you can check out the Stoker Awards for a list of nominees and winners going back to 1987. Enjoy! Doss. Very good book with more than just a little hint of the supernatural! Maybe I mean cryptozoology? Ah well, it was a great book and I loved the whole thing! Right now, I'm trying to hunt down "The Hyde Effect", I know it's in one of my boxes in the attic (Damn I need a library) and when I find it, I plan on staying up all night to read it again. It is a great werewolf story!
