Just to reiterate what Jim said, the movie The Keep is TERRIBLE, to put it mildly. Consider yourself warned.

Black Wind and The Fifth Harmonic are two of FPW's best and are easy to find. If you like science fiction, you might want to check out An Enemy of the State (my personal favorite), Healer, The Tery, Wheels Within Wheels, and Dydeetown World. You'll have to get them used, though.

From what I remember of it, Michael Mann turned it into a vampire movie. Perhaps he didn't have the wherewithall to express the far greater and more evil aspect of Molasar as he was portrayed in the book.

I think you should just watch it and form your own opinion. Perhaps you will like it, or at least think that it isn't THAT horrible, like I do.

Everything is relative. Compared to "Terms of Endearment" I would rather watch "The Keep". When I went to see the former movie I hated every character except Jack Nicholson's. Before it ended I was looking at my watch and saying "Die already" referring to Debra Winger's character.

Vampire movie? I didn't get that at all. In fact . . . uh . . .

SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO'VE NEVER SEEN "THE KEEP"

Highlight to read:
I got space aliens out of it. At the end, the sword is actually a laser rod, and Glaeken transforms into whatever species Rasalom is portrayed to be. To me, that clearly said "Cosmic Space Being Warrior Thing".

I must admit that I never saw it as a vampire movie, either. Monster movie, sure, but not vampires. That would have made it better, IMHO (remember that I actually like the movie). The book alluded to vampires and then changed courses, so basically the movie being a "vampire movie" just means that it never followed through and changed course like the novel.
