Sadly, conversion therapy was an accepted practice going back as far as the 1920's. Some of it was simply hypnotic suggestion, other measures were much more extreme.

Forced heterosexual relations
If these Behavior Modification techniques failed, there was always institutionalization.
It wasn't until 1973 when Homosexuality was removed from the DSM as a mental illness.

Barbarian like treatment never cured anything.
I absolutely HATED my psych training when I was in nursing school originally. Now that I'm in a Master's program....the geriatric and adult psych is depressing the hell out of me. I could never imagine working in one of those places.

I think he did a great job with portraying the evil doctor.....I kept expecting thunder and lightning to back frame every time he spoke.
This season sure hasn't disappointed one bit. I now expect the aliens to show more often....oh and I think they were the reason the doc got baked. I think they have influenced things at the asylum more than we've seen.

I like how trippy some of the shows have gotten. The musical number in this, and then there was a Monty Python bit in Fringe a couple weeks ago.
As for Asylum, I've been greatly enjoying it. They seem somewhat more tragic than last season, And some of them seem to be learning from their mistakes too.
