That is a great scene and I am pretty sure it paved the way for this scene and for the head being blown apart by a laser shooting robot in "Chopping Mall". But let's face it, this woman was done in by a basketball to the face. TO THE FACE!!!

That movie scared the shit out of me. I was 13 and at that point pretty much desensitized to horror but that movie really creeped me out. But so did the original which I saw when I was about 8 or 9 years old. For some reason The Blob has always been able to freak me out.
