I would TOTALLY be down with some Prequel-Jack stories. My only complaint about the recent books is the same as the thread starters-its been great watching Jack get drawn into the larger battle, but I too kind of miss the small fixes and everyday cons that made us all love the character.

It seems we all have high expectations from the Man. I'd also like to see Abe's past and how he started his business.
Maybe someone needs to find the fountain of youth for FPW so it all could go on and on and on.....

Turanthor Wrote:I know that FPW has said that Jack would now end with #15, so we have two normal novels and two of the Young Jack novels left and a revised Nightworld to look forward to.

However, I was wondering if anyone else would think it was cool to have a few more Jack novels prior to The Tomb?

I know FPW has said he doesnt want to run Jack into the ground, but with The Conflict becoming such a large part of the recent RJ novels, there has seriously been less time for the minor "fixes" that used to be in the books.

I liked Ground Zero, but Jack has become a little too Jake Fix in terms of action IMO. The way he manipulated his various enemies in BTS was just excellent, the same with how he got to Jeremy Bolton in Bloodlines, but there is really none of that in GZ. I am down for the Conflict taking center stage, I was just enjoying it more when he was utilizing those skills he had acquired over the years as RJ to get the job done, not just shooting people in the head and chest.

So I would seriously be very interested in a pre-Tomb era book. One that did not even have anything to do with The Otherness necessarily, just Jack making a name for himself doing the kind of small ordinary "fixes" that used to provide subplots to the books.

anyone else?

You have spelled this out perfectly. WHile I LOVE this series, I have been thinking the exact same thing. My favorite parts of the early books were always the FIXES that Jack did and how he would manage two and three fixes going on at one time. These were CLASSIC.

While I love the series and the story arc, I have been upset that these fixes, even the ones not key to the overall plot of the book have not been appearing.

I would love to see some pre-TOMB books that focus on numerous fixes and one solid bad guy in each novel. It doesn't have to be THE ADVERSARY.

Hear that, Karintha! I'd love to read ABE'S STORY...maybe 20-25 thousand words. But El Hombre has said no more short fiction.:cryin:

Maybe if we all wish =real hard...=

"Thanks. Thanks very much. You're quick with that pistol."
"I see a man outnumbered, seems to be a mensch, I step in."
"Thanks again. My name's Jack."
"Jack, my friends call me Abe."

President Obama speaks:

"I am a fan of Paul Wilson's fiction. I have read all of his books. He presents to us, a hopeful future. A future we will love.

But as Doctor Wilson so wisely warns us...this wonderful future will not come without effort. It will not come without progressive ideas applied to the American economy. It will not come without justice for the Palestiinian people, and the elimination of the Zionist entity. It will not come without the American people, whom I have the honor to represent in the world forum, kissing the buttocks of every low-rent dictator who drops his pants.

But only through these hard choices, will we win through to Doctor Wilson's shining vision of a BRIGHTWORLD.

Absolutely. Those were pretty fun. While I loved reading Jack at full-tilt (Harbingers) I would definitely like to read more about the crafty Jack who left the world behind and stepped into the big apple.

It appears everyone wants Paul to write his own JACK BEGINS and THE JACK KNIGHT, by way of reintroducing the character...possibly a trilogy that would bridge the young adult novels with The Tomb (Rakoshi).

Interlude at Duane's is one of the best stories I've ever read.
