Really? I think FPW has enough smarts not to let that guy near another one of his stories. He massacred the last effort.

I thought I had heard Michael Mann wasnt too crazy about the movie either, although Im not sure where I heard or read it. Oddly enough I think he could do a good Repairman jack movie with the mood of Heat. I think he had grown as a director. I was so excited when I saw The Keep for sale several years back at a used VHS sale. Then I watched it.

The Keep (the film) does have it's fans. I liked most of it. I like Mann's early style. He has gotten better, but his early films have a certain something about them that has been lost. It may have been the score. They seemed a little intoxicating. I love Manhunter. The scene where William Peterson jumps throught the window to the tune of the Iron Butterfly song (I have no idea about the title) was amazing! Naturally Heat was unbelievable (a little long at times).

The 2 people who seem to hate The Keep (the film) most are fpw and Michael Mann. For different reasons I'm sure. Neither of them were allowed to get the film made the way they wanted.

From what I know about the business end of the movie biz, you cannot commit to just ONE production company or studio. Never put all your eggs in one basket, so to say. AND, so the story goes, in Hollywood, "Oh, Well...." is the Hollywood way of saying "F**k YOU!"
Script Writer: "Gee, Mr. Director, that was MY script that you stole, filmed and got a couple of million bucks without paying me a dime!!"
Director/producer "Oh, well......." (as he walks away)

Such is life!

I don't know much, in fact zilch about Tangerine Dream, but I'd love the score to be done by The Killers.

Such a talented band with many strings to there bow (or guitar).

And apt name too.....

I forgot Manhunter was Michael Mann, I enjoyed that movie. I think if The Keep wasnt my favorite book I would have liked the movie more. IF it ever comes out on DVD, Ill give it another whirl. Imagine a DVD release with FPW doing a commentary. That would be classic.

I'd cast Edward Norton as Jack; he's got that average white guy look but
can bring out a nasty/crazy side to his character; just check out his performance in "American History X".

Nothing against Ryan Reynolds, but he's just... too "pretty" to play Repairman Jack. Jack is a chameleon, fading into crowd after taking care of his business.

I like Manhunter and some others Mann´s movies. But, The Keep, is a total mistake. Besides some nice shots, like the soldier running against a light, the whole thing is very bad. But I have seen it too many times. Big Grin

I´m so sorry that Repairman Jack Movie is on a halt. I was thinking about Michael Mann playing Sal Roma character
