Well, if you are a time traveler (like me) and have already read all 25 of the Young Repairman Jack series, that's not a big deal, but it must take a great deal of patience from those of you who have not yet mastered time travel.

Biggles

Spoiler alert: Hillary Clinton never becomes president, and the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Cubs never win their respective world championships in the 21st century. However, the Cubbies do win game 5 of the World Series (taking a 3-2 lead) against the Tokyo Samurai in the 2132 World Series. Unfortunately, game 6 is called when a tsunami obliterates Tokyo and Chicago is destroyed by an earthquake. Since all life on Earth is extinguished by a meteor strike a week later, it's really no big deal. Sorry, Cubs fans.

Ken Valentine Wrote:It's your book, so what you do with it is completely up to you. If it was mine, I'd just wash my hands, (I do that anyway) remove the dust jacket, and read it. As FPW said; eye tracks will not decrease the value of a book.

Ken,

I'm glad you wash your hands, but I kind of expected that to be the case already. Smile

Anyway, that being said,
I think I'll wash my hands of this thread.

Damn! That sounds like a rap!

I do, but with the kind of work I do (oils and solvents getting worked into my hands) I often use an artificial pumice to help get rid of the really ground-in dirt. It also gets rid of a lot of skin as well, so I can't use it every day. But I definitely make sure to use it before I read a high quality book.

Rap, or wrap?

WGB Wrote:When I receive a book I immediately put a Mylar cover on the dust jacket. My book then goes everywhere with me until I am through reading it. Then it goes everywhere with my wife until she’s through with it. By the time it gets to the bookshelf the Mylar has fingerprints and scratches but the dust jacket and book is still pristine. Mylar even has UV protection so my books are safe even on the bookshelf. I buy my Mylar by the roll here: http://www.shopbrodart.com/site_pages/bjc/

Thanks for the tip!

Thank you, Paul and TOR

Just received the ARC from TOR.
It's my wife's b-day, and she'll be thrilled. We've been RJ fans for some time, and have had you sign at least one ARC at BEA in the past, but this is the first time one of yours has come directly to us. It's probably one of the last ARCs we'll receive from any publisher, since we've just closed down our online children's bookstore at the end of last year.

Thanks again,
Joel

Today I received my copy from Bluesman Mike.

Thanks Mike who sent the book to me. Thanks FPW who made excellent book! I was reading The Puppet Masters, but I have to put it down a while. Big Grin
