Frank Miller's 300 - law dawg - 11-16-2006

Mark S. Wrote:I really liked the comic, but this trailer looks like a made-for-TV Sci-Fi channel flick. If you are going to do an all-digital FX movie, then at least make sure you have the cash for good FX. This looks really bad.
I liked the graphic novel but couldn't get past the historical inaccuracies. It was distracting for me....

And I am also upset they are delaying Gates of Fire (MUCH better, IMO) in order to not compete against 300. Crap!

Frank Miller's 300 - The Mad American - 03-09-2007

Went to the Midnight Imax showing of this last night and all I can say is AWESOME.

Over the top in a lot of ways but so freaking cool. It strays from historical events and takes a more true to Frank Millers graphic novel angle and it really really worked for me.

Definately going to see this one again and probably again while its still on the big screen.

Frank Miller's 300 - mitch - 03-10-2007

One of the best movies I've ever seen. It's what Troy should have been like. Leonidas was unbelievable.

Frank Miller's 300 - Alan - 03-10-2007

I saw it this afternoon. Absolutely amazing. It added some new elements that weren't in the comics without distracting or taking away from the main plot. The addition of the Queen's story and what she was willing to do for what she believed enhanced the story in a way I hadn't expected. The story of an incredibly strong and brave woman in a movie I expected to find only brave men.

Frank Miller's 300 - Auskar - 03-11-2007

I saw it. I liked it. Go see it. That is high praise.

Now, for those of you that will get hung up on historic inaccuracies -- remember, this movie is based on a series of COMIC BOOKS, not a history. It is not historically accurate. It IS beautifully filmed. Different. Artful.

Frank Miller's 300 - jacobm - 03-11-2007

hopefully this weekend i can get to see it. i had mentioned Gerard Butler as a potential Jack actor in another thread, in the clips and trailers i have seen he seems to do really well as Leonidas

The Mad American Wrote:I can't wait for this movie. Someone had posted about it before and I have been excited every since. The Spartans at Thermopalae (sp?) is one of my favorite historical stories. Who couldn't love a King/leader like Leonidus who would go and stand in the trenches with his soldiers during something like this?

"The Persian Army's archers are so many their arrows blot out the sun!"
"So much the better...we'll fight in the shade."

Xerxes: "How many, traitor, are there at Sparta like these 300?"
"5000, King of Kings..."

There is a great scene that is after this line is used. I won't spoil it but it got a good laugh from most in the audience.
