Harbingers NY photos - Maggers - 05-30-2006 fpw Wrote:Great job, Maggers. Super photos. Thanks, Paul, glad you liked them. I'm still searching for the perfect Julio's Bar. On the West Side it's nearly impossible to find down and dirty, grungy bars these days. Harbingers NY photos - IanSF - 05-30-2006 I'm not likely to read Harbingers for a while yet, but that didn't stop me having a 'wee peek'. Nice to see NYC from street level, where all the action is. I know it's asking a lot, but it'd be really good to see some more of RJ's haunts from previous books. A typical apartment block in Queens where Abe's daughter might live from 'The Tomb, a house like the Kenton brothers' house in Astoria from 'The Haunted Air' are two that spring to mind. Only if you can fit another 'photo tour' into your no doubt hectic schedule, of course. Good luck in your hunt for 'Julio's'. Oh, but to offset that, go scuba diving in Bermuda! That should take you to the public albums I've made of Gia's house and the 2 GU's I've attended. I do plan to document RJ's hangouts as best I can. I am not as familiar with Astoria as I am with the Bronx and some parts of Brooklyn. I'll get there eventually. It'd be nice if I could do it by car. Committing to subway and bus to get to Queens and back is .... well, something I'm not quite willing to do at the moment. Maybe I can get a friend to take me on a tour in her car. Bartender, there's a fly in my Guinness! Hush now, ye scut, or they'll all be wantin' the same! I'm glad you are familiar with Il Vagabondo. I have dinner there at least once each time I visit the city. Bocce ball is easy, kinda like shuffleboard with more arguing and bragging! In fact, last year our board buddy Keith the Elder missed me there by just a few minutes. Cool place. Where my dear friend Bluesman James used to work. June 21st, it'll be 2 years he left us, =way= too soon. The memorial concert a week after his death...the memory still warms my soul. =Everyone= who could sing or play, who loved our friend, got up on stage. It was =loud=! I asked James' boss, the owner, "Ain't we gonna get in trouble with the cops again? This kinda volume?" And the bossman replied, "Mike, fuck 'em. This is for James." I liked that talk! Blake, glad you enjoyed them. Can we make markers on Google Earth? Tell me how and I will. It really adds an extra something. Harbingers NY photos - cobalt - 05-30-2006 Maggers, Thank-you for the photo tour of Harbinger hot spots. Makes my images now much more real. |
