John Candy- What's Your Favorite Movie? - Scott Miller - 10-25-2005 Maggers Wrote:My favorite Steve Martin movie is "All of Me," followed by "The Man with Two Brains." LOVE LOVE LOVE Steve Martin...he's the man of my dreams. Good looking, smart and funny. Can't go wrong there. What a wild and crazy guy. I remember seeing him for the first time during an Academy Awards broadcast and he came out without a head; he was giving away the visual effects award. Besides the already mentioned, I'll add Roxanne, L.A. Story, Housesitter, Parenthood, Bowfinger, and Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. To see him in a more dramatic turn, I highly recommend The Spanish Prisoner. I liked him a lot in Grand Canyon, but not the movie so much. He and Christopher Walken are the only two people I will watch SNL for. And finally, if you can find it, try to check out the oscar-nominatedThe Absent-Minded Waiter. Scott, as always, you've got the compleat list. "Parenthood" is one of my top 20 favs of all time. I love that little movie; it gets me every time. And I really liked "The Spanish Prisoner." I totally agree about SNL, and your assessment of "Grand Canyon" is spot on. I'll have to find "The Absent-Minded Waiter;" don't know that one. Thanks! PS Have you read any of his books? He writes well, too! Nice list, will have to check out the Spanish Prisoner. Am really looking forward to Steve Martin in The Pink Panther as that role and he seem custom fit for each other. Agree with Maggers on Parenthood, very underrated little movie. Really like that one. But also a big fan of the Jerk. Man so many classic lines in that movie right from the start. "I was born a poor black child..." John Candy- What's Your Favorite Movie? - Kenji - 10-25-2005 Maggers Wrote:PS Have you read any of his books? He writes well, too! I read his book. The title is "Shopgirl". And, he made the movie, too. http://www.apple.com/trailers/touchstone/shopgirl/ He has many talents! John Candy- What's Your Favorite Movie? - jimbow8 - 10-25-2005 As far a John Candy, there are just too many good movies to pick one. I don't know if I could classify any as GREAT, but definitely GOOD and quality comedies. As for Steve Martin, I have always been partial to The Man with Two Brains, but All of Me, The Jerk, Roxanne, LA Story are all great. A couple overlooked gems are Leap of Faith and A Simple Twist of Fate. John Candy- What's Your Favorite Movie? - Maggers - 10-25-2005 The Mad American Wrote:I am a Mog, half man, half dog.
