Infernal - Major Spoilers!!! - remylass - 07-19-2005 **Night World spoilers:** I agree. It has to be Glaeken that has the tragic story. I remember reading it and assuming it was going to be Jack. When it wasn't, I was shocked. I couldn't put it down. When it ended up being Glaeken, I felt horrible for him, but it was completely right. It is the only way to end it. **Infernal Spoilers** As for Infernal, I must say, that I was terribly stunned by Jack's dad getting killed in the first couple of pages. I liked him a lot. I thought that was so sad, but I could just feel Jack's rage! Infernal - Major Spoilers!!! - BrettM - 07-19-2005 **Possible Night World spoilers:** APhew Wrote:Jack is pretty awesome, but Glaeken is THE MAN. I can't see "Nightworld" coming out any other way than it did.I agree with both you and Marc on this. However, the Ally might want more than one string for his bow, just in case. Having Jack lined up as a second stringer would make good sense. In any case, he needs to be free enough from ties to be willing to fulfill his Nightworld role. Would a Citizen/Daddy Jack be as willing as a Boyfriend Jack to join the battle, or would he be more motivated to stick close to his family and protect them? OTOH, we now have a new player in the game, and Jack might be the perfect warrior for the third ("leave us ALONE!") side. Maybe the Ladies are setting Jack up. I wonder how they will affect a revised Nightworld, or if they are going to be killed off in some penultimate novel. Infernal - Major Spoilers!!! - t4terrific - 07-21-2005 I'll say, I truely liked Infernal. I felt some true emotions while reading. I really wanted RJ to murder Tom (and violently). What a sack of shitzu!!! I found myself hating Tom for sure. I really felt for Gia this time. In other RJ's I got sick of all her crap. This time I felt like she was truely more at ease with who Jack is, and was willing to let Jack be himself. I felt her pain when Vicky took the stain, then when Gia took the stain herself, I was a little touched by the implications of it. She was not only sacrificing herself, but their unborn child. If only all mothers would love their children so selflessly, our world would be an easy place to live. All that said, I feel like Jack isn't as Buh-buh-buh-BAD as he used to be. He was such a soft touch for Tom. He was like a bystander when the shitzu went down in The Land of Habib. He did react well when things went ballistic, but he didn't take any form of control prior to detonation. He was like any old ham and egg'er off the street. He seemed like he was just along for the ride hoping things wouldn't go too wrong. I like RJ when he's sapping Hell out of a street punk for rolling an "old lady" and tossing her necklace. I like RJ when he is filled with rage and fiercely and savagely attacking a superhuman monster. I've felt him soften some since The Haunted Air. All in all Infernal was a delight for me. I didn't get everything I wanted, but I am only one reader. I really enjoyed it. I am hooked on the 4 main characters and I look ahead with baited breath for RJ10. I can't wait to see what Mr. Fix-it runs into next. Keep'em comin FP-Dub!!! Infernal - Major Spoilers!!! - t4terrific - 07-21-2005 Could be. In The Keep, it was clear that Glaeken was an unwilling participant, of sorts. Perhaps The Ally is as cold and heartless as The Otherness would seem. It would appear that The Champion really doesn't have shitz to say about his involvement in this war. Infernal - Major Spoilers!!! - t4terrific - 07-21-2005 remylass Wrote:but...but..... I liked the way Infernal retread over old ground. Not only did Lyle and Charlie re-emerge, but he went back to the pedarast Dmentedists place to get the book he had hidden as well as the old man's cabin/prison. I would like to get a series of novels based on The Red Haired Man. He was double buh-BAD!!! Infernal - Major Spoilers!!! - remylass - 07-21-2005 t4terrific Wrote:I really felt for Gia this time. I understand that Jack needs someone to keep him grounded, and that is where Gia fits in. He has had a really rough time lately, and so she is important. However, I would love to whack her upside her head sometimes. This time was different. She seemed to accept who Jack was, and even encouraged him to help Tom. t4terrific Wrote:All that said, I feel like Jack isn't as Buh-buh-buh-BAD as he used to be. And what changed since Haunted Air? Yeah, that's right. The unborn baby came into the picture. In order to get our Jack back, something has got to happen with it. He can't become legal and have a family life in the suburbs. ECW was well known for having the most rabid fans in the business. When the fans got really exctited at live ECW events they began to chant (among other things, some not quotable on this site) what sounded like "E-C-Dub!" "E-C-Dub!" "E-C-Dub!".
