I'm trying to collect all 6 books of the adversary cycle and want the collector's editions. Which versions of The Keep, The Tomb, and The Touch should I be looking for?

I just picked up an excellent hardcover copy of The Touch on e-bay, but it is shrink wrapped. My question is, would it be better to keep it wrapped and preserve the condition, or should I open it to see what I actually have? It is published by Putnam.
Any thoughts? I'm new to the whole collecting thing, so I'm still working through some of the details.

You've got an incredible prize there! I think this is a question that only Paul himself should answer, or perhaps Barry Hoffman. I wouldn't want to give you bad advice (for those who know my profession, that's an inside joke).

The best source of the original versions is Paul's bibliography, posted elsewhere on this site.
The Keep, Morrow, 1981

*Ironically, the British edition was published before the limited edition! (Paul, correct me if I'm wrong on this.)

Thanks, Biggles. I really just want to know if I have a first edition or not. If anyone has some advice on things I can look for on the outside, I would appreciate any suggestions. There is not a barcode on the back, though there is one in the shrink wrap, and there is a number on the bottom right back corner. I'm not sure how long I can stand to wait - the temptation to peak is almost too much!

The back of the dj, of the 1st Edition, should have the ISBN 0-399-13144-2 in the bottom right corner. It's under our friend and favorite author's smiling face. The book should be approximately 8-3/4 inches tall, 5-7/8 inches wide, and 1-3/8 inches thick.
I don't know if the bce would be the same.
If you need to, open it up and check for the number line, 12345678910. That will prove it a First Edition.
I have no idea if the shrink wrap is factory, or if it says anything about the Edition.

Do you know if there is a signed limited edition available for this (not the borderland press one)?
