Dexter - Scott Miller - 03-09-2009

I'm up to episode 8, and it just feels like there is no tension, no darkness.

It was definitely the least of the three, although I thought it had some really great moments. Here's a link to what was said about season 3.

Thank you for the link Scott, I'm glad I'm not alone. This season is really dragging.

I feel like it is incredibly difficult to maintain a sense of realism about this show because there are just soooo many bodies in such a short span of time that he couldn't cover up all his tracks. I think we may have already seen the best this show has to offer-I'll keep watching though.

Trying to catch up on the show and the books before the new season. It will be a lot of cramming. I'm about 8 episodes in to the first season and I love it. The show makes me want to read the books really badly, as it usually happens with movies and shows that are made from books.

I've read the first book. I've also watched the first two seasons. The first season followed the first book (Darkly Dreaming Dexter) rather closely until the end approached. Naturally the show was more detailed.

Has anyone read the rest of the series? Does the Showtime series continue to follow the books at all? I know one promient character would be missing.

I'm looking forward to the August dvd release of season 3.

From earlier posts I think the second season goes in a different direction then the books. I am halfway through the second season and I love it. It seems like every episod im nervous for dexter or holding my breath thinking something is going to happen. Great tv show. I got the audio books to listen to the books while I work I should be starting the first book tomorrow.

I finished the first book and I have to say the show is better then the book for once. The book was sort of short and to the point where the tv could expand on and make into a really good show.

SPOILERS

In the show I would have rather had Laguerta die like in the book rather than Doakes in the second season. At least Doakes was funny sometimes where as Laguerta was annoying(her sleeping with the leutenants fiance to get her job back was a nice touch though.)

Anyone see the panel from comic con? Looks like John Lithgow will be playing the serial killer Miami Dade police will be going after in the next season and Lundy will be making a return and sending dexter in as a sort of under cover. Sounds really good. Can't wait.

Just finished Season 2.

Loved. It.

As for the books, I've read them all. Season 2 is completely different from book 2. Book 3 will not be made into a TV season under any circumstances I can forsee. It's very, very different than the first two books.

LOVE my Dexter.

Season 2 seemed to treat Sociopathy (what?) as a temporary disorder. It seemed as though Dexter had been cured.

That is one of the most intriguing questions brought up by the series; was Dexter born that way or was he created?

So if Dexter hadnt
witnessed his mother's murder and been left sitting in her blood for hours
he wouldnt have been a serial killer?

If he had been younger and not remembered it would that have made a difference?

It seemed like sending a vampire to AA meetings to stop drinking blood ...
