Just breathe into a paper bag . . . you'll be okay.

Speaking of paper bags . . . that reminds me of the movie Wind Talkers. Now THAT was a really crappy movie.

The only thing authentic about that movie was that in one scene they had a Web-Cor wire recorder. ALL the military stuff was garbage!

One of the guys in the Marine outfit in the movie hyperventilated and had to breathe into a paper bag. In real life, men were rejected as Marines because they had crooked teeth. NO WAY would someone like this guy be accepted.

A really, really, really, REALLY, stupid movie.

(They had a military consultant who was either an absolute moron, or was outraged because the script writer and director completely ignored him.)

How in the F***ING hell can you people DIS the original MATRIX!!!!!!!??

Piece of cake. Unoriginal. Derivative. Poorly scripted. Poorly acted. Poorly directed. And don't let me get started on the special (as in education) effects.

Track down a copy of the short story "The Walls" by Keith Laumer, written way back in the early 1960s. A better use of similar concepts and wastes less time than sitting through the polack bros trilogy.

Then again, people wonder why I've never been a Star Trek fan. Well, the first episode I saw was "Charlie X" in 1966. Trouble is, I'd read Stranger in a Strange Land the previous summer between 5th and 6th grades. I have a low tolerance for poorly done plagiarism.

well, you did say wayans. Combine that with the fact that I have a hard time remembering names at times...

well... not all of them look alike. lol
GeraldRice Wrote:Uhhh, did you really like Blankman? I mean, really? Because... Marlon and Shawn Wayans weren't in it. That's Damon Wayans with In Living Color alum David Alan Grier.

Just come out and say it, already. All comedians look alike to you, don't they?

I'm not.

But don't get me on the topic of 2 and 3. Let's just say that 2 looked like they said "Well. Let's make some more money. Come one, what do you say?"

Quote:1. THE MATRIX. That's right, I said THE MATRIX. A movie that managed to be boring, confusing, pretentious, corny, embarrassing, and highly fucking unlikely--all at the same time.

Couldn't get past the first 10 or 20 minutes...

Quote:2. THE ENGLISH PATIENT. I was actually angry that I sat through the whole thing. Dull and duller.

AGREE!!!!

Quote:4. TITANIC. "Rose!" "Jack!" "Rose!" "Jack!"
Didnt bother to see it because I KNEW I would hate it Wink :p

Quote:5. MOULIN ROUGE. This film gave me motion sickness. I'm not kidding.

Just annoying... Ditto CHICAGO - which I also very much disliked...

TERMS OF ENDEARMENT - <she grits her teeth even thinking about this one> More than hated it....

2001 - Never really understood this one - even though I know I was supposed to.... Rolleyes

LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN - couldn't get past the first 15 minutes...

And many others - didn't really enjoy the one about the wine tasting in CA from last year.... (title escapes this ageing brain...)

Haven't like the three most recent SW's - BORING, poor acting.... etc....

Ok here's a question to all the Matrix haters. Do you like SCi Fi type movies?

If you don't, then you just don't like the genre. (Did I spell Genre right?) Which I can understand. But if you are a sci fi fan and like movies like Blade runner and Highlander and Aliens, then how can you not at least think that the Matrix was a well made movie?

Cuz it is a quality film all the way through. It's not like watching a train wreck of a movie like basic instinct 2! Although I'm sure it had a COUPLE good scenes in it.

Oh I like Sci-fi...

Blade Runner- I didn't mind. Turn it off whenever I see it on tv at times, but I watched it all the way through once.

Highlander, once each.

Aliens: Leave out Aliens Vs. Predator, and the Ripley gets cloned and has an alien baby movie, and I'd watch them again.

I'm a fan and I think The Matrix is way overrated for two reasons:

1-The Keanu Factor which I admit is a personal issue, but I just can not stand him.

2.-I'd seen way too many action movies by the time this one rolled off the assembly line and I just can't take the whole battle-hardened killers firing 60 gazillion bullets and not hitting their target anymore.

Aaaaiiii! You just reminded me of another movie that was nowhere near what it was cracked up to be: Mr & Mrs Smith (Pitt - Jolie).

I've come to respect Pitt and Jolie as human beings, but that movie sucked! Talk about one or two taking on an army and not only defeating that army but getting away with barely a scratch! Puh-leeze. Rolleyes

IMO: All three of those are great movies, and The Matrix isn't even in the same ball park. Well, Highlander had annoying heroines who screamed too much, but otherwise I quite enjoyed it. I also wouldn't say Highlander is in the same genre (more fantasy than sci-fi), but that's a minor point. Aliens (the James Cameron one) is still one of the funnest action/sci-fi movies ever made. And Blade Runner is a masterpiece of the art form.

So it's definitely not a genre issue.
