The Walking Dead Season 4 - Marc - 10-16-2013

Now that season 4 has premiered, what did everyone think of The Walking Dead? I felt sort of ho-hum about it. Nothing groundbreaking and nothing really interesting happened. It felt like almost every scene was a setup for two characters to talk about something and that was it.

Not sure what's going on with the kid at the end. Was he turning and that's why he collapsed? Or was he really sick, hit his head and died and then turned? And, with the dying pig, are they going to introduce animal zombies now, or is it just symbolism?

I know a show is losing me when I start multitasking and doing other things like reading the news, or browsing the web which I did with this episode. I hope it picks up next episode.

I thought with the dead pig and the dead boar in the woods...there might be something that may jump to humans.

I have yet to watch the episode, but in reading Entertainment weekly, there was a lot of talk about an illness making the way to camp. Well, an illness not associated with the zombie virus.

I guess Hershel forgot how to be a veterinarian.

I laughed when Beth's response at the end was to reset the number on the Safety Awareness board to 0.

I wasn't going to watch it. It feels like a chore.

Jesus. I'd completely forgot he was a vet. That makes this episode even stupider.

The pig was out in the yard in a pen...the boar in the woods. If Rick didn't tell him....then Hershel wouldn't know.

It seemed rather dumb to me that Rick didn't say anything. When the animals are being raised as a food source, then the health of the animals is important. It wouldn't take much to wipe out the livestock. Saying to Hershel "hey the pig is acting weird" should have been a no brainer.

It also seemed rather odd that there wasn't a little more concern about the kid, not because of the zombie thing but an illness sweeping through the group would be a potential disaster. Their ability to stay alive depends heavily on their ability to do a lot of physical work, every day. Granted, it'd be impossible to quarantine someone but there might be steps that they could take.

When that kid first said he was sick the context of the episode made it appear as if he wasn't really sick and that he just didn't want to be there for Carol's knife training class. But then they did make a big point of him shaking Daryl's hand. So is Daryl gonna get sick too?

I haven't watched the third episode yet, but after the second I'm ready to drop the show. I'm going to give it one, maybe two more episodes.
